Moulding a Leader with Vineet Nayar, HCL Technologies @ CEO Conclave Delhi
The recently concluded ‘CEO Conclave’ served as an excellent platform for the contemporary prominent leaders to address the challenges and opportunities ahead for business leaders in order to finalize the roadmap for the next financial year. It was organized by SiliconIndia on July 26th in New Delhi at The Claridges hotel.
It was an awe-inspiring and motivating conference, especially for the audience which essentially comprised of CEOs, Managing Directors, Presidents, VPs, and Directors; they seized this extraordinary opportunity to contemplate on valuable insights the distinguished speakers had to offer.
The essence of the gathering was accentuated by the presence of HCL Technologies’ Vice Chairman & CEO, Vineet Nayar, who captivated the entire auditorium with his invigorating ‘Inaugural Keynote’ speech on ‘Re-casting the Role of the Management.’ The attendees found his entire session profoundly incisive and thought-provoking.
It then proceeded to the first panel discussion of the evening on the topic, ‘Leadership on the Line: Staying Alive Through the Dangers of Leading’, which constituted of reputed leaders from the corporate arena. Mohit Parasher, Executive Director & CEO, Beetel Teletech, Jaswinder Ahuja, Corporate VP & MD, Cadence, Manisha Sood, Country Manager & Director, India & SAARC, SanDisk Corporation and Jagdish Mitra, CEO, CanvasM formed the panel whereas Sameer Maheshwary, Senior VP, GE Capital India served as the moderator for the same.
Manisha, with regards to the context of leadership which was the theme for the evening, zealously forwarded her view on the same. She said, “I am strongly influenced by Gandhi’s leadership. I think real leadership is not about a designation or authority; it’s about bringing about a change and leading people. No matter what your position in organization is, how old you are and where you lived, you have the power to show leadership. Nothing can ever deny you that.”
The subsequent panel discussion soon commenced with Nikhil Arora, VP & MD, Intuit, Ajay Shukla, VP & MD, McGraw-Hill Education, Dhruv Shringi, CEO & Co-Founder, Yatra Online and Sriram Iyer, Director – Wealth Management, Religare Macquarie Private Wealth taking the stage for the topic, ‘Preparing the Organization for the "Unknown" Future.’ It was very skillfully moderated by Subrotah Biswas, Country Manager - India & South-West Asia, Logitech.
Sriram, from a financial perspective was of the opinion, “In the Financial Services domain - to try and prepare for this “unknown” future – one of the most critical ingredients is to ensure that the right kind of people in the team. If the dramatic shifts witnessed in the Financial Services landscape over the last few years are any indication of times to come, it is going to be extremely important to have the right team in place – Ensuring that you constantly keep sharpening the skill-set of your team to help them take on future changes and challenges.”
The “Closing Keynote’ session was delivered by Naresh Gupta, Sr. VP & MD of Adobe Systems. His scholarly speech on ‘The Innovation Economy’ enticed the audience. It centered on how exponentially growing technologies fundamentally reshapes the future due to the multi-disciplinary trait of technology.
The summit helped to strike the right chord with varied business leaders - ones who excel at innovation, are engaged in business transformation and are building workforces that are efficient, engaged, and effective. It also advocated the idea that honing leadership skills along with analytical skills tend to make the most effective and efficient business technology executives of today.
