Understanding DNA Of An Organization

If there is anything that is fast and unchanging, it is the ‘CHANGE’ itself. Change is inevitable and we need to align to the change as quickly as possible. Role of a finance function in any organization is multifold and has been evolving with change and the way organizations are
doing business today.

"Let’s embrace change and consistently work towards a sustainable model covering the
facet of business
"

Finance function cuts through the organization harmonizing and communicating at pace for timely decisions which can impact the overall bottom line. A CFO today is pretty much in a position to see bigger picture and is able to connect all the so called ‘functional dots’ of the organization.

Role of finance is on a transformational path and CFOs are driving today’s empowering teams from operational management to strategic trade offs as businesses seek to reduce cost but also plan for a longer term growth.

Today’s CFO team is going beyond the traditional roles of reporting and adding value to the organization by serving as the integration hub for key business processes and as a trusted
business partner helping to create sustainable growth.

My personal experiences which I would like to share in length and breadth are 5 key areas which finance teams should focus for success:
1. Understand business models and DNA of the organization.
2. Know your stakeholders and their requirements.
3. Keep pace with changing technology.
4. Enhance skills for working in a global environment.
5. Be catalyst for change and not just a number cruncher.

Last but not the least, let’s embrace change and consistently work towards a sustainable model covering the facet of business. Finance teams should personally invest time, be adaptable and act at a lightening pace as the business unfolds in various directions with changing economies.
